Hi, I'm about to get a new roof (GAF Driftwood Precision Shingles) and will need to paint. I tried to compare my home to the neighbors but everyone has a different color home. I wanted to paint the exterior a mint green with maybe a darker green, cream or mauve for the trim but i also like taupe and brown. Can you give me some suggestions?

Hi Shannon -
Boy, could I use your help figuring out a color scheme for my
house! We recently had a hail storm and I need to replace our
dutch colonial's roof, siding, and gutters and I need to repaint all the trim and the
garage door. I would prefer to
not paint the brick and the front door (I will put a new storm
door on the door, though).
I am not happy with our current brown
roof as it seems to clash with the pink brick in some lights. I am
leaning toward putting on a black or very dark gray roof, (Maybe
Certainteed Moire Black?). Also leaning toward painting the shutters
black and putting new black shutters next to the bay window to balance
things out.
It would be dramatic change and I would love to have your opinion on these choices!
I am concerned that the black or gray roof would seem heavy. I
am also concerend the black will highlight the "pinkness" of the brick?
(The brick color, by the way, seems to be a combo of Benjamin Moore
colors Audubon Russet HC-51 and Sweet Romance 1192 - the overall look is pink, though )
Also,
with this scheme, picking a trim color gets really hard. It seems that
an off white trim would hightlight the garage door. A friend is
suggesting I paint the trim and garage door Benjamin Moore Sandy Hook
Gray - my concern is that the green in that color would look bad against
the pink brick.
I would greatly appreciate your help in picking a color scheme!!
Thanks so much!

I have another wonderful project with my client. This project will incorporate (in bays) Western Red Cedar. I want to bring out the natural cedar colors by using an enhancement . Have you done this before, the client is concerned that a stain alone will not last the elements (mostly a 5 yrs guarantee). Southern exposure, and thinking that a warm yellow/orange paint added to the stain would look best , —–any suggestions, obviously he wants what will stand the test of time and look good, and of course, —don't we all.
Thanks for your consideration to this challenge…

Shannon…Thank you so much for helping me! We recently purchased a home and we need to paint it! I am horrible at picking paint colors. I guess you could call my style traditional. I love looking at southern living magazines if that helps! I'm going to attach some photos to try and help you get a feel for how it is now. CertaPro painters will be painting my foyer, hallways, formal dining, formal living, kitchen breakfast hearthroom combo, guest bedroom, master bedroom and stairway. AHHHH! In two of the pictures you will see two small hallways that are red. We do not plan on painting these at this time unless you think we really need to. both of the small red hallways branch off the Hearth room. One leads to the garage and laundry room(witch is also red) and one leads to the guest 3/4 bath and guest bed. The guest bath wall is black and white toile wallpaper with a red ceiling. Ok with that said…..the only walls in the house that we like are the hallway walls and guest bedroom color (tany brown color) there are so many holes in the walls that it it requiring painting the entire house. We HATE the color in the formal livingroom! I also don't like the texturing but it would be expensive to take it off so I guess I'm sticking with it. The walls in the Hearth, Kitchen, Breakfast combo are faux finished and I don't like that as well. All of the drapes will be gone because I don't like them. I have no idea what I will replace them with so if you have any sugesstions on that I would be greatful!!! I guess I'm keeping the valance in the master bedroom. I really appreciate your help! If you need anymore details please let me know.
Thanks,
Amanda Beck

Hi Shannon,
We would like to paint the front door of our 50's red brick ranch. I think the front steps and foundation would also benifit from a new color. What are your thoughts? Thank you for your help.

I have been caught up trying to choose a color for my house. I had thought Dunn Edwards Weathered Coral, but am having second thoughts.

Hey Shannon. I was wondering if you recived the message I sent you about interior paint colors? When I posted it there was a prompt that said it needed to be approved by certa pro. I sent it on Tues. I haven't recived an email stateing that it has been approved and I called certaPro and they didn't know what I was talking about. Anyway, just wanted to make sure you got it. Let me know if I need to re-send.
Thanks!

We need help choosing colors on our house. The roof is burnt sierra and has musket brown fascia. The stucco has a raised chair rail, corner trim and frame around windows. I'm thinking that yellow-toned neutrals would be best…light body, medium trim and repaint musket brown on porch post, garage and house door, but not sure that it the best choice. Would you paint trim around windows the same as chair rail and corner posts? Please give us your opinion…we are open to all suggestions. THANKS.
