I want to repaint a model car as a gift for christmas, but am unsure the best way to do this. The model I bought is a Jada 1:18 scale, obviously, fully assembled. Would automotive paint be good, since I am trying to match the color of a real car? should I sand down the finish before starting? Should a primer be used? Top coat? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Gray the day, lonely the skies
rain streaks dusty windows
lightning crashes, thunder rolls
dense fog flows over and down the hills
it may as well be a blind night.
Birds roost in places beyond sight
subdued, hushed
their quiet is deafening
so often active, vocal
they know this is no day to fly.
Color no longer paints vibrant hues,
artistry shadowed over canvas blank
fallen petals Brown, life spent.
resigned to the orchard floor
awaiting a pregnant Spring
deliverance
Open Question: what is my stereotype based off my looks & music taste (i describe them)?
Author: adminDec 13
based on my appearance and music:
- older teen (girl) with shoulder length medium brown straight hair, no bangs, side part, never styles it- always natural, either ponytail or plain down
- wear casual comfortable clothes: columbia jackets, wears nothing but jeans, carhartt stuff, neutral or dark colored clothes, warm sweaters and jackets, lots of plain t shirts, tennis shoes/sneakers & plain hiking/combat boot mix. no jewelry ever
- a few small tattoos
- makeup- brown eyeshadows (dif shades), sometimes green purple blue or black, minimal to medium black eyeliner (none on waterline), no foundation/powder, eyebrows very manicured- medium to small width, good arch. nails never painted
- music = classic rock & metal (ozzy, led zeppelin, simon & garfunkle, billy joel, etc)
whats the stereotype
i dont want to label myself. i am curious what other people label me. natural human curiosity.
but thank u for the advice

Open Question: Make orange bedroom more “grown up”?
Author: adminDec 13
I just turned 18, and I used to have a bunkbed, but we got rid of all the furniture (just a bunkbed and a dresser really) and now it’s time to get new stuff. We were thinking a futon. The walls are a light, creamy orange/yellow color. I can’t paint, but I don’t know what colors would match the wall without looking like a little kid’s room. Help?
Resolved Question: how can I make this more smooth and professional..?
Author: adminDec 13
I was resting on the paint box for a bit when two male students who played the main character for the show slipped in then stood in front of the tent that I drew. I struck up a conversation first by saying, “you are not supposed to view it yet, it’s incomplete…”
Instead of answering, one of them bent down and started acting by muttering something. It was for the scene I was drawing. When I asked him “How did you know? I just did the painting after roughly dividing up the size?”, he stopped acting then replied with a shy smile after lowering his head a little. “I can feel that.. I.. am.. here.. by.. the way.. the color is…” At that instant, I was able to extract a piece of stone that has been weighing on my head.
Open Question: What is a good monitor for video editing and digital art?
Author: adminDec 13
I’m looking into a new monitor, and with all the IPS, PVA, MVA, TN, monitors specs hubba jubba, I’m a little unsure. My main functions are video editing, digital painting, and animation. I’ve heard response time can play importance for video editing, though this may be untrue. Most IPS monitors have a much slower response time than TN monitors. I don’t give a hoot about viewing angle. I’ll be looking at it head on, face level all the time unless I’m passing out at the computer and drifting off to a side. I would like it to be between 24″ - 27″, though I will go as low as 23″ pending on the monitor.
Ideally I’d like 1920 x 1080 (though it’s not a deal breaker if 1920 x 1200), not for movies or games, but for the new damn graphics tablet I got. I haven’t found a force proportions option and it’s a 16:9 format (Genius G-Pen M712X). Currently have a 16:10 monitor, and you do ever so slightly notice strokes that seem a little more/less angled compared to your hand motion. Perhaps if the monitor has a USB connection the tablet will proportion itself to a 16:10 monitor (that would be my hopes …though probably only hopes).
Price Range: Under $400
Some of the monitors I’ve been looking at by screen types.
TN:
HP 2509m 25″ - Nice size, supposedly sharper image than 27″ (smaller pixel pitch)
HP 2710m 27″ - Bigger screen, 92% color gamut; but bigger screen means bigger pixels
Dell SP2309W 23″ - High Resolution (2048 x 1152), 98% color gamut, nice price (currently only $200)
IPS:
NEC MultiSync EA231WMI-BK 23″
NEC MultiSync EA241WM 24″
ViewSonic VP2365WB 23″
Honestly I’m open to thoughts and suggestions as to which monitor might be best for my needs; NT, IPS, listed here or not. Resolution size doesn’t matter, only factor is I’d like to keep it under $400. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
